Block & Bridle Club at Iowa State University
The Iowa State University Block & Bridle Club serves as the Animal Science club on campus that focuses on professionalism and helping prepare students for careers in animal agriculture. This highly recognized student led organization strives to promote club objectives and member success through numerous club activities throughout the year. Some of our biggest highlights include the Cyclone Classic Cattle Show, Summer Sausage & Cheese Sales, Animal Learning Day, Little North American Showmanship Contest, Iowa FFA Poultry Judging Contest, and our Spring Spectacular Jackpot Hog Show. In addition, we participate in community service projects such as the Hunger Fight every fall where we package thousands of meals for those who are less fortunate, and partner with the American Red Cross to host a Blood Drive in the spring. In addition, we have started a new tradition where we help clean up around the University Teaching Farms as they get ready for the spring and summer seasons. There are eight interest groups within the club (Beef, Swine, Sheep, Goat, Horse, Poultry, Companion Animal, and Meats). All members are invited to join interest groups to learn more about that particular species and take part in meetings, trips, and educational events.
